Check that the knife isn't a danger to anyone else.

Take a quick look at the wound. You've said it's a cut, so I imagine the finger is intact.

Tell her to press her thumb against the damaged finger and hold it above her head while I get a sterile dressing.

Apply dressing. Assess whether medical help is needed. See if she's showing signs of shock (a very deep cut may cause this) - if so, get her to lie down with her feet up and the arm supported across her chest.

If she's in shock, medical help will be needed. If the finger is seriously damaged, medical help will be needed. If not, make her a cup of tea and finish the dinner yourself.
