My parents are old, and like being a part of my life, like me to give them as many details as I want about my day. They are old, retired and have nothing else to do. They took care of me for 27 years. I don’t rely on them for financial support. But I know they appreciate me still wanting to call them and involve them in my life. It’s a very American mentality to cut parents off, or be distant with them (physically and emotionally) after you reach a certain age. Most cultures in the world are NOT like that, and rightfully so. Americans need to educate themselves and stop assuming that they have it all figured out and their way is the right way of doing things. Why is to too much to call and check in on your old parents once a day? I’m sure it makes them happy.
