Zane is a dangerous fellow who likes to go rock climbing in active volcanoes. One time, when he was 20 2020 meters below the edge of a volcano, he heard some rumbling, so he decided to climb up out of there as quickly as he could. He managed to climb up 4 44 meters each second and get out of the volcano safely. Graph the relationship between Zane's elevation relative to the edge of the volcano (in meters) and time (in seconds).

Given : Zane is a dangerous fellow who likes to go rock climbing in active volcanoes. 20 meters below the edge of a volcano managed to climb up 4  meters each second

To find : Graph the relationship between Zane's elevation relative to the edge of the volcano (in meters) and time (in seconds).

Solution:

Zane was 20 meters below the edge of a volcano

at t = 0   => E = - 20  m   ( Zane's Elevation   relative to the edge of the volcano )

Zane managed to climb up 4  meters each second

=> Distance traveled in t secs  = 4t

Zane's Elevation   relative to the edge of the volcano  after t sec = - 20 +  4t

= >  E  = 4t - 20

t E
