price decreased = 1,60,000

(x/100) × 560000 = 160000

x= 16000000/560000

= 1600/56

= 800/28

= 400/14

= 200/7

= 28.57143%

The percentage of decrease in price of the car as old price is 28.57 %.

Explanation:

Given:

The cost of the car 2 years ago is Rs. 560000.

The cost of the car  at present  Rs. 400000.

To Find:

The decrease in price of the car as a percentage of the old price.

Solution:

The decrease in price of the car

= Rs.560000 - Rs.400000

= Rs. 160000

The percentage of decrease in price of the car as old price

=\frac{decrease\ in\ price\ of\ the \ car}{old\ price\ of\ the\ car} \times 100

=\frac{160000}{560000} \times 100

=28.57\%

Thus, the percentage of decrease in price of the car as old price is 28.57 %.
