Answer:

answer is C.

x {}^{2} - 2x - 8 = 0 \\ x {}^{2} - 4x + 2x - 8 = 0\\ x( x - 4) + 2(x - 4) = 0 \\ (x + 2)(x - 4) = 0 \\ x = - 2 \: \: or \: \: x = 4

this is your explanation.

hope it helps... pls do support me for more answers.

Question :-

Zeros of polynomial x² - 2x -8 are -

(a) 2 & 3

(b)-2 & -3

(c)-2 & 4

(d)2 & 4

Answer :-

→ Option (c) is correct

→ zeros of this polynomial are -2 & 4

To find :-

→ zeros of the given polynomial

\_________________/

Explanation :-

For finding the zeros of any polynomial firstly we will have to put that polynomial equal to "0" ,

→ x² - 2x -8 = 0

splitting the middle term,

→ x² - 4x +2x - 8 = 0

→ x(x - 4) +2(x - 4) = 0

→ (x - 4)(x +2) = 0

• Case (1) if,

→ x - 4 = 0

→ x = 4

• Case (2) if,

→ x + 2 = 0

→ x = -2

hence zeros of this polynomial are -2 and 4 .

option (c) is correct .

For verification :-

For verify that which zeros we find, is that true ?

hence, when we put value of x in that polynomial if we get answer 0 the. we can say that our assumption is correct.

If x = -2

→ (-2)² - 2(-2) - 8

→ 4 + 4 - 8

→ 8 - 8 = 0

our answer is correct.

now ,

if x = 4

→ (4)² -2(4) -8

→ 16 -8 -8

→ 16-16 = 0

that is correct .

hence verified
