Zinc and copper are in the ratio of 5 : 3 in 200 gm of the alloy. How much gm of copper be added to make the ratio of 3 : 5?

Answer: 133.33 g

we have 200g of alloy and 5:3 ratio of zinc and copper

thus zinc amount = (5/8)*200 = 125g

    copper amount = (3/8)*200 = 75g

now to make ration equal to 3:5  let x gram  of copper be added

⇒  zinc = 125 g  , copper = 75+x gram

⇒  125/(75+x) = 3/5

⇒125*5 = 3(75+x)

625 = 225 +3x

x = 400/3 = 133.33 g

thus amount of copper to be added  = 133.33 g
