Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq) → ZnCl2(aq) + H2(g)
If 0.3 mole ‘Zn’ are added to hydrochloric acid
containing 0.5 mole HCl, then how many maximum
moles of ‘H2’ are produced?

Explanation:

1 mole of Zn reacts with 2 moles of HCl to give 1 mole of each ZnCl2 and H2.

Therefore, only 0.25 mole of Zn can react with 0.5 mole of HCl. It will give 0.25 mole of each ZnCl2 and H2. 0.05 mole of Zn is left unreacted.
