The presence of hydrogen can be tested by bringing a lighter near the beaker and the fire burns with a pop sound.
Reaction:
Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq) = ZnCl2 (s) +
H2(gas)
Here ,
Zn = zinc metal (metal)
HCl = Hydrochloric acid (acid)
ZnCl2 = Zinc Chloride (salt)
H2 = Hydrogen gas
