Zinc is higher than iron on the Activity series.
so zinc should should serve as a protector because they will oxidize before iron can begin causing iron not to rust.

ANSWER:-
- Corrosion is basically and electrochemical phenomenon. The rusting of iron ,the tarnishing of silver, development of green coating on Copper and brass are some example of corrosion .
- Use of zinc coating protect iron is called galvanization. In galvanizing iron, zinc being more reactive than iron service as an anode and is oxidize .
- Here it is important to know that iron does not rust even after zinc coating is broken which is not true in case of thin coating over iron .
- Therefore,Zinc is used to protect corrosion of iron.
