Metal which forms Amphoteric oxides will react both alkali and acids.

Example:

Zn and Al will react with both Alkali and acids.

zn +2NaOH ———→Na2ZnO2 +H2

Zn +2HCl ———-> ZnCl2 +H2

Similarly Aluminum also react in a similar way

Al + 2 NaOH ———→ NaAlO2 + H2

(OR)

2Al +6NaOH ———->2Na3AlO3 +3H2

2Al +6HCl ————-> 2AlCl3 +3H2
