Difference between Zinc Nitrate and Copper Nitrate  

Explanation:

  • Residue that is left upon heating in case of Zinc Nitrate is Zinc oxide (ZnO) whereas in case of the Copper Nitrate it will be Copper Oxide (CuO).
  • The colour of the residue upon heating also changes to yellow when hot and white as soon as it cools down and a black solid is formed respectively in Zinc Nitrate and Copper Nitrate.
  • The gas is also found to be evolved upon heating in Zinc Nitrate the gas in nitrogen dioxide and oxygen. (NO_2 + O_2) and also in case of the copper oxide same thing is being evolved.
