Please not that i am giving the meaning in English.
The given line means that an alive person can stay naked but a dead person definitely needs new clothes.
This refers to the old woman's son who died of a snake bite. The old woman did not have any money to buy new clothes but she was obliged to do since it was a tradition and if traditions re not followed then people re criticized for that.
