Zn + H2O --- X+ Y


equation - Zn + H2O ---- ZnO + H2

So, X = ZnO

Y = H2


This is Displacement reaction.


DISPLACEMENT REACTION: the reaction in which high reactive metal displace the less reactive metal is called displacement reaction.


Other example - CuSO4 + Fe --- FeSO4 + Cu


In this reaction Fe displace the Cu because Fe is high reactive metal then the Cu.
