True, ZnO can be used as a photocatalyst for Hydrogen generation.

ZnO is semiconductor system that can be used for photocatalytic action, the photocatalytic action takes place on the surface of ZnO by three major processes such as ‘absorption’ of the incident photons, photo-excitation of electron-hole pairs and the transport of charges at a long distance.

This transport of charges that create a photocatalytic activity revolve around a steady state that are described by Quasi-Fermi levels of electrons.
