Acids : Materials which have pH value less than 7, and turns blue litmus to red.

Bases : Materials which have pH value grater than 7, and turns red litmus to blue.

Reaction of Acids and Bases :

When acids and bases react with each other they form a base and water (H2O) is removed as a side product, known as Neutralisation Reaction.
