The floral parts of a flower show a symmetry. If a flower can be divided or bisected through the central axis from any point and symmetrical halves produced it is called actinomorphic or regular. However, when the floral parts and perianth are bisected on one plane only into symmetrical halves the flower is said to be zygomorphic or irregular.
