(.25y - 2) = 1 - (.5y - 2)
.25y - 2 = 1 - .5y + 2
.25y + .5y= 1+2+2
.75y = 5
y = 5/.75
y = 500/75
y = 20/3

Hello Mate!!!
Your answer is......
>0.25y - 2 = 1 - (0.5y - 2)
>0.25y - 2 = 1 - 0.5y + 2 (opening braces)
>0.25 y + 0.5y = 5 (subs. -2 to RHS and -0.5y to LHS)
> 0.75y = 5 (adding 0.25 and 0.5)
> y = 45/0.75 (subs. 0.75 to RHS)
> y = 500/75 (removing decimal)
> y= 20/3 (dividing 500 and 75 by 25)
now answer to your question is y =29/3
