Explanation:
Peristalsis is the process of movement of food in our body with the help of muscles near the alimentary canal.
Imagine there is no peristalsis in anybody's body then the food will only move through his buccal cavity to his oesophagus and will remain there until another bolus of food comes and pushes it downwards.
This can cause the food to remain your oesophagus. This is why peristalsis is needed in our body.
The same happens in the intestine, is there will be no peristalsis in intestine the fecal matter will be filled in the the descending colon of large intestine and can cause several disorders like constipation, irregular bowel movements, etc.
