We know,

C.S.A=2(l+b)h

=2(1+2)1.5

=2×3×1.5

=9m^2

Area for top=l×b

=1×2

=2m^2

Total area required=2+9

=11m^2

Solution :-

Given :

Rahul wants to paint the outside of a cabinet of measure 1m × 2m × 1.5m.

He painted all except the bottom.

Find the total surface area of cabinet :-

T.S.A = 2(lb + bh + lh) sq. units

= 2(1 × 2 + 2 × 1.5 + 1 × 1.5) m²

= 2(2 + 3 + 1.5) m²

= 2 × 6.5 m²

= 13 m²

Find the area of bottom of cabinet :-

Area = (l × b) sq. units

= (1 × 2) m²

= 2 m²

Area of cabinet painted = T.S.A - Area of bottom

= (13 - 2) m²

= 11 m²

Hence,

He did paint 11 m² of cabinet.
