  1. The southwest monsoon winds blow from Indian ocean towards himalayas bringing rainfall to western part of India.
  2. while blowing himalayas act as obstruction to the clouds coming due to which orographic rainfall occurs in high proportion.
  3. And while returning it again brings rainfall to southern part of India
  4. which is nothing but retreating monsoon according to metereological department
  5. therefore proportion of orographic rainfall is more in india
