Answer: 5760

Explanation:

Consider the given  plot and road as shown in the picture.

Sides of  square plot(ABCD) = 20M

Sides of square road(PQRS) = 20 + 4 + 4

                                               = 28 M

We know that area of square field = (Side)²

So,

Area of sqaure ABCD = (20m)²

                                    = 400 m²

Area of square PQRS = (28m)²

                                    = 784 m²

Clearly,

Area of Road = Area(PQRS) - Area(ABCD)

                       = 784m² - 400m²

                       = 384 m²

Now,

Cost of constructing this area at the rate of rupees 15 per square metre will be,

Cost = 384 × 15

        = ₹5760

The are of road is 382 m^2 and the total cost of construction is 5,730 Rs.

Explanation:

We are given that:

Area of the Square Plot = (side)^2 = (20)^2 = 400 m^2

As per the question statement:

A 4 m wide road is constructed along its boundary outside the plot.

So the area of the outer square plot =(side)^2 = (20 + 4 + 4)^2 = (28)2 = 782 m^2

Area of the road = 782  - 400 =  382 m^2

Cost per unit area = 15 Rs

Total cost = 382 x 15 = 5,730 Rs

Thus the are of road is 382 m^2 and the total cost of construction is 5,730 Rs.
