From the first equation, we get,

0.5x+0.8y=3.4

0.5x=3.4-0.8y

x=(3.4-0.8y)/0.5=(34-8y)/5

We will now insert this value of x in the second equation now,

0.6x-0.3y=0.3

6x-3y=3

6[(34-8y)/5]-3y=3

(204-48y)/5-3y=3

(204-48y)/5-15y/5=15/5

204-48y-15y=15

204-63y=15

-63y=-189

y=3

x=(34-8y)/5

=[34-(8×3)]/5=10/5=2
