If 2 quantities are added or subtracted, their dimensions must be same.

aayushtripathi275200: but in book there is different answer
aayushtripathi275200: M^-1 L^0 T , M^0 L^2T^0
LuckyJesrani: see my answer
sks2971996: Thats correct if the question is (b-x^2)/at. I solved assuming b-(x^2)/at. Please write the question clearly. Sorry for the mistake
LuckyJesrani: sks is also right
aayushtripathi275200: sorry for my mistake as well
aayushtripathi275200: but the answer given in book is right or wrong??
sks2971996: yes, answer is correct in the book
aayushtripathi275200: can you give solution for it please?
sks2971996: Dimension of Energy is M(L^2)(T^-2). Now, b-(x^2) is possible only when b has dimension (L^2).
