SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • In a tennis club the ratio number of junior members : number of senior members = 7:10

  • There are 18 more senior members than junior members.

TO DETERMINE

The total number of club members

EVALUATION

Here it is given that in a tennis club the ratio number of junior members : number of senior members = 7:10

Let number of junior members = 7x and number of senior members = 10x

Again it is also stated that there are 18 more senior members than junior members.

So by the given condition

10x - 7x = 18

 \implies \sf{3x = 18}

 \implies \sf{x = 6}

Hence number of junior members = 42 and number of senior members = 60

Hence the total number of club members

= 42 + 60

= 102
