(b) Harmful results of greenhouse effect
As a matter of fact, the greenhouse effect helps in keeping the
Earth reasonably warm and hence creates better conditions for the
survival of life.
However, it has been noticed that for the last 100 years the
consumption of fossil fuels has increased manifold. This, in turn,
has increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, with
the result that the greenhouse effect has increased. The average
temperature of the Earth has gone up by 2°C.
It is feared that if temperature further rises, it might result in
global warming. This, in turn, will melt ice on the polar caps, thereby
raising the level of seawater by a few metres. This, in turn, will result in
submerging of coastal regions and islands, causing extensive damage.

pls summarize it anyone pls
