Hey !

______________________

(1.03)² - (0.97)²

in the form of a²- b²= (a+b) (a-b)

where a = 1.03 and b = 0.97

(1.03 + 0.97 )(1.03 - 0.97 )

Hey friend,
Here is the answer you were looking for:
 {(1.03)}^{2} - {(0.97)}^{2} \\ \\ = (1 + 0.03)^{2} - (1 - 0.03)^{2} \\ \\ = ( {(1)}^{2} + (0.03)^{2} + 2 \times 1 \times 0.03) \\ - ((1)^{2} + (0.03) ^{2} - 2 \times 1 \times 0.03) \\ \\ = (1 + 0.0009 + 0.06) \\ - (1 + 0.0009 - 0.06) \\ \\ = 1 + 0.0009 + 0.06 - 1 - 0.0009 + 0.06 \\ \\ = 0.12

Hope this helps!!!
