This is actually a very philosophical questions meaning that the fact the we can attempt to comprehend the world around us, the fact that we even exits is impossible to even understand why we exist or how we exist. It is a paradox similar to "if anything is possible than is it possible for something to be impossible?" but much more deep. He was pretty much questioning our existence.
