  {( \frac{1}{2}) }^{ - 2}  +  { (\frac{1}{3}) }^{ - 2}  +  { \frac{1}{4} }^{ - 2} \\  =  \frac{1}{ { (\frac{1}{2} )}^{2}  }  +  \frac{1}{ { (\frac{1}{3} )}^{2} }  +  \frac{1}{( { \frac{1}{4}) }^{2} }  \\  =  \frac{1}{ \frac{1}{4} }  +  \frac{1}{ \frac{1}{9} }  +  \frac{1}{ \frac{1}{16} }  \\  = 4 + 9 + 16 = 29
