an AC, or alternating current, Generator, the electrical current periodically reverses its direction. With a DC, or direct current, Generator, the current flows only in one direction. The major difference between an AC Generator and a DC Generator is that the DC Generator requires a mechanism to provide a DC output.

hey mate..

D.C. generator: To get a direct current, a split-ring type commutator must be used. The generator is thus called a D.C generator. The only difference between a D.C generator and an A.C generator is that the two ends of the generator coil are linked to the outer circuit. ... There is no commutator in an A.C. generator

hope this helped u. .!
