1-2(a+b) -3(a+b)²= 0

let (a+b) = s

=> 1 -2s -3s² = 0

=> 3s²+2s-1=0

=> 3s²+3s -s -1 = 0

=> 3s(s+1)-1(s+1) =0

=> (3s-1)(s+1)=0

=> s = 1/3 or s = -1

hence , a+b = 1/3 or a+b = -1
