Answer:

Question 1 )

2x + 3y = 5            ( eqn : 1 )

3x + 4y = 6            ( eqn : 2 )

⇒  ( eqn 1 × 4 )  - ( eqn 2 × 3 )

⇒ [ 4 ( 2x + 3y = 5) ] - [ 3 ( x + 4y = 6 ) ]

⇒ ( 8x + 12y = 20 ) - ( 3x + 12y = 18

Using Elimination method

        8x + 12y = 20

-        9x + 12y = 18

Question 2 )

x - 4y = -4                    ( eqn : 1 )

2x + 5y = -4                 ( eqn : 2 )

⇒ ( eqn 1 × 5 ) - ( eqn 2 × - 4 )

⇒ [ 5( x - 4y = - 4) ] - [ -4( 2x + 5y = - 4 ) ]

⇒ ( 5x - 20y = -20 ) - ( -8x - 20y = +16 )

Using Elimination Method

        5x - 20y = -20

-       -8x - 20y = +16
