first let the number be x

so x/3 - x/4 = 7

\bigstar\huge{\texttt{Concept\: used:-}}

\textbf{Linear Equation in one variable}

\textbf{Now:-}

\sf\textsf{Let the number be {\textbf{\underline{‘x’}}}}

\sf\textsf{So, the first number=1/3x}

\sf\textsf{The second number=1/4x}

\sf\textsf{It is also given that:-}

\textbf{\underline{The first number exceeds the second number by 7}}

\sf\textsf{\color{grey}{ATQ:-}}

\implies{x/4+7=x/3}

\implies{x/4-x/3=-7}

\implies{3x-4x/12=-7}

\implies{-x/12=-7}

\implies{\cancel{-}x/12={\cancel{-}7}}

\implies{x/12=7}

\implies{x=12×7}

\implies{\boxed{\bold{x=84}}}

\sf{So, the \:number\: is\: {\bold{84}\: and \:the\: two \:digits\: are\: 8\: and\: 4, \:which\: add\: up \:to\: 12}}
