Their product is 108

Le the two numbers be x and y.

Let 1/3 of the number x be two less than 2/3 rd of the number y.

So,

2y/3 - x/3 = 2

Multiplying both sides by 3, we get,

2y - x = 6

x = 2y - 6            ...(1)

For the second part, it is told that,

sum of the two numbers is 21.

So,

x + y = 21

Replacing x as 2y-6 from (1), in this equation, we get,

2y - 6 + y = 21

3y = 27

y = 27/3 = 9

As x = 2y-6, so,

x = 2(9) - 6

= 18 - 6

= 12

Product of 12 and 9 would be = 108
