green color dots = 1/3 of x

blue color dots = 2/5 of x

red color dots = 40

1/3x + 2/5x + 40 = x

(5+6+40x)/(15x) = x

(11 + 40x)/15x = x

11 + 40x = x X 15x

11 + 40x = 15x²

0 = 15x² - 40x -11
