Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1/3x as x/3 and 1/4y as y/4

The first to do is simplifying those equations, by multiplying or dividing.

Always remember to remove the fractions.

1/3x + y = 10/3 → x + 3y = 10

2x + 1/4y = 11/4 → 8x + y = 11

Now we use subtraction method. Hope this helps

x+3y/3 =10/3. eq 1

8x+y/4 = 11/4. eq 2

from equation 1

3(x+3y)=10(3)

3x+9y=30

3x=30-9y

x=3(10-3y)/3

x=10-3y. eq 3

put value of x in equation 2

8(10-3y)/4=11/4. ( 4 &4 get cancel okk)

80-24y=11

-24y=11-80

-24y=-69

y = 69/24 = 23/8

put value of y in equation 3

x=10-3(23/8)

x=10-69/8. (now by lcm)

x= 11/8

check

1/3(11/8) +23/8 = 10/3

11/24 + 23/8 = 10/3. (by lcm)

80/24=10/3

10/3 = 10/3

LHS = RHS
