Answer:

(*6)1/3x + y =10/3----1     im doing it by elimination meathod

2x = 1/4 =11/4-----2

2x + 6y =20

(-)    (-)        (-)

+2x + 1/4y=11/4

2x and 2x gets cancelled

6y(4/4) - 1/4y=20(4/4)-11/4

24y-1y  =    80-11                       cross multiply

-------    *    -------

4                 4

(24y-1y)*4=(80-11)*4

92y=276

y=276/92              (92*3=276)

y=2

substitute y=2 in any one of the equation

2x  + 1/4(2) = 11/4

2x + 1/2 = 11/4

2x=11/4- 1/2(2/2)   (on taking LCM)

2x=11-2

    ____

       4

x=9/4/2

x=9/4 * 1/2

x=9/8

now substitute both x=9/8,y=2 in any equation for checking purpose

2(9/8) + 1/4 (2)

9/4 + 1/2

9 + 2

____

  4

=11/4
