The balance chemical equation as per the question will be:

2Mg + O2----> 2MgO

As per the Avogadro’s law, the two moles of the Mg is combined with the 1 mole of Oxygen in order to form 2 mole of MgO.

If the 1.5 moles of Oxygen was used during the reaction then 1.5 * 2 = 3 moles of magnesium were reacted with it.

Hence, the mass of 3 moles of Mg = 3 * atomic number of Mg

= 24.305 * 3

= 72.915 grams
