The total money with me = Rs. 50

I bought a pen with 12% of the total money that I had at school

Therefore,

The money spent by me on buying the pen from school is,

= 12% of 50

= $\frac{12}{100}\times 50$

cancelling the zeros from numerator and denominator

= $\frac{12}{10} \times 5$

= $\frac{12}{2}$

= $\bold{6}$

Thus, I bought the pen for Rs. 6 from school.
