Given :  1/6 of  the fruits at a warehouse were apples and the remaining fruits were oranges. There were 291 more red apples than green apples and there were 3455 oranges in the warehouse.

To Find : How many red apples were there

Solution:

Red Apple = R

There were 291 more red apples than green apples

=> Green Apples = R - 291

Total apples = R + R - 291 = 2R - 291

Oranges = 3455

Total Fruits = 2R - 291 + 3455

= 2R + 3164

1/6 of  the fruits at a warehouse were apples

=> 2R - 291  =  (1/6) (2R + 3164)

=> 2R - 291  =  (1/3) ( R + 1582)

=> 6R -  873 = R + 1582

=> 5R =   2455

=> R = 491

Red apple = 491

Green apples = 200

Total apple = 691

Organs = 3455

Total fruits = 691 + 3455 =  4146

Red apple = 491
