A train of 150 m length is going towards North at a speed of 36 km/h. A bird is flying at 18 km/h parallel to track towards South. Find the time taken by the bird to cross the train ?

{\green{\underline{\underline{\bold{Solution:-}}}}}

Given :-

  • Distance = 150m

To Find:-

  • Time taken by the bird

Explanation:-

Bird and Train are moving in opposite directions.

Speed of the train = 36 km/h

➜ \: 36 \times  \frac{5}{18}  \\ ➜ \: 10 \: m/s

➵ Speed of the bird = 18 km/h

➜18 \times  \frac{5}{18}   \\ ➜ \: 5 \: m/s

➵ Relative Speed of train with respect to the flying bird = (10 + 5) = 15 m/s

➵ Time taken by the bird to cross the train =

 ➵  \: \frac{150}{15}  \\ ➵ \:   \fbox{10 \: sec}
