Answer:

1) 70% of our surface water resources are polluted because of human activities and untreated wastes. Explanation: Pollution is the greatest enemy to mankind. Our surface water is already in a quite less quantity and it is ruined and polluted more by the people.

2) These are both outdated and inappropriate. They are outdated because they were developed at a time when groundwater was a marginal source of water and when humans were not able to affect the level of the ground water table through their use which was largely limited to drawing water from wells.

3) The government can make special teams for utilisation of the rainwater. Drip irrigation can be started as it takes 30-35% less water in comparison to flood irrigation. The use of water should be reduced in the industrial area. It should be checked that there should be no unnecessary use of water in the factories.

4) The Tungabhadra Dam was constructed at Hosapete in the middle of the 20th century to harness the river water, aiding the growth of agriculture and industry in the region. The Tungabhadra River then flows east, joining the Krishna in Andhra Pradesh. From here the Krishna continues east to empty into the Bay of Bengal.

6) Himalayan rivers are those which originate in the Himalayas and flow through the Northern Plains, e.g., the Ganga, the Yamuna and their tributaries. These rivers are useful for irrigation and navigation and the lowlands drained by them have fertile alluvial deposits.

7) Yes, the groundwater should be considered a common pool resource. Explanation: Groundwater serves as an abundant source of water and facilitates many human and natural activities....
