1)a 10 cubic cm block of paraffin weighs 0.085 N. It is carefully submerged in a container of gasoline. one cubic cm of gasoline weighs 0.0069N.
[ DENSITY OF Gasoline = 0.7g/cc
Paraffin = 0.87 g/cc ]
i) what is the wt. of gasoline displaced by paraffin?
ii)will the block of paraffin sink or float in the gasoline?explain

1.    volume of gasoline displaced = 10 cc = volume of  paraffin block
mass of gasoline displaced = 10 cc * 0.7g/cc = 7 gm
weight of gasoline displaced = (7 /1000)kg * 10 m/sec² = 0.07 Newtons

2. weight of paraffin in air = 0.085 Newton
since weight is more than the weight of gasoline displaced,  it will sink to the bottom of gasoline container.
