Let the distance be d, and time accordingly is t.

Speed = distance/time

= > distance/speed = time

when he walks 4km / hr -

= > or. time + 20 min = d/4

= > d/s + 1/3 hr = d/4

= > d/s = d/4 - 1/3

when he walks 5km / hr -

= > or. time - 10 min = d/5

= > d/s - 1/6 hr = d/5

= > d/s = d/5 + 1/6

from above,

= > d/4 - 1/3 = d/5 + 1/6

= > d/4 - d/5 = 1/6 + 1/3

= > d/20 = 1/2

= > d = 20/2

= > d = 10 km

Distance we has to walk is 10 km
