1)Mathematical sentences can be categorized into two groups as follows:
i) Open sentence: is a sentence that has a variable in it and might be true or false depending on the value of the variable. Eg. n + 3 = 5, might be true or false depending on the value of n.

ii) A closed sentence: this is a sentence which is always true or is always false. Eg. 2 + +3 = 5 is always true, or 4 = 2 + 1 is always false

Hence the answer for the first part, the answer is an Open sentence.

2) The product of a variable and constant gives a term.

Both the constant and the variable in the term can be the coefficient of the other. e.g:
2 x y = 2y or y(2)

in the example above 2 is the coefficient of y, and y is the coefficient of 2.
