1. A path 3 m wide runs around the inside of a square park
2. A sheet of paper measures 50 cm by 30 cm. A strip 6 cm wide is cut from all around. Find the area of
the remaining sheet and also the area of the strip cut out.
3. A rectangular lawn 70 m by 50 m has two cross roads each 6 m wide running in the middle of it, one parallel
to the length and other parallel to the breadth. Find the cost of levelling them at 5.50 per square metre.

Area of sheet =l×b

=50×30=1500 sq.cm

A strip 6 cm wide is cut from all around.So

Length of remaining sheet=50−6−6=38 cm

Breadth of remaining sheet=30−6−6=18 cm

Area of remaining sheet=38×18=684 sq.cm

Area of strip cut out=1500−684=816 sq.cm
