(The diagram missing in the question is attached below)

Given :

Weight of the rod = 100N

Length of the rod = 2m

Load = 20 kgf

To Find :

The tension in the strings = ?

Solution :

  • Assume Tension in the string at A = T₁

             Tension in the string at B = T₂

  • By considering moment of forces at point A

            100\times1+(200 \times0.5)=T_{2} \times2

            2T_{2} =200

            T_{2} =100N

  • The net force on the rod should be zero

            F_{upward} = F_{downward}

            T_{1} +T_{2} =200+100

            T_{1} +T_{2} =300

            T_{1} =200N

The tension in the strings are T₁ = 200N & T₂ = 100N.
