\sf\large\bold{\orange{\underline{\blue{ Given :-}}}}

 \:\:

  • Aaditi alone can stitch a shirt in 4 hours

  • Madhvi alone can stitch a shirt in 6 hours

 \:\:

\sf\large\bold{\orange{\underline{\blue{ To \: Find :-}}}}

 \:\:

  • Time would they take working together to stitch

  • (i) One shirt
  • (ii) 15 shirts

 \:\:

\sf\large\bold{\orange{\underline{\blue{ Solution :-}}}}

 \:\:

  • Let they take 'x' hours to stitch one shirt while working together

  • Let they take 'y' hours to stitch 15 shirts while working together

 \:\:

 \underline{\bold{\texttt{One hour work of Aaditi :}}}

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 1 } { 4 }

 \:\:

 \underline{\bold{\texttt{One hour work of Madhvi :}}}

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 1 } { 6}

 \:\:

 \underline{\bold{\texttt{One hour work when they both work together :}}}

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 1 } { 4 } + \dfrac { 1 } { 6 }

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 3 + 2 } { 12 }

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 5 } { 12 }

 \:\:

 \underline{\bold{\texttt{'x' hour work when they work together :}}}

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 5 } { 12 } \times x

 \:\:

As we assumed , they would take 'x' hours to stitch one shirt while working together

 \:\:

So,

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 5 } { 12 } \times x = 1

 \:\:

 \sf x = \dfrac { 12 } { 5 }

 \:\:

 \sf x = 2.4

 \:\:

  • Hence they take '2.4' hours to stitch one shirt while working together

 \:\:

 \underline{\bold{\texttt{'y' hour work when they work together :}}}

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 5 } { 12 } \times y

 \:\:

As we assumed, they would take 'y' hours to stitch 15 shirts while working together

 \:\:

So,

 \:\:

 \sf \dfrac { 5 } { 12 } \times y = 15

 \:\:

 \sf y = \dfrac { 15 \times 12 } { 5 }

 \:\:

 \sf y = 3 \times 12

 \:\:

 \sf y = 36

 \:\:

  • Hence they take '36' hours to stitch 15 shirts while working together

 \:\:

∴ While working together they can stitch 1 and 15 shirts in 2.4 & 36 hours respectively
