Given: Object travels half distance with speed 5000m/h and next half with 10km/h

To find: Average speed of the journey

Explanation: 5000m/h= 5km/h(1 km= 1000m)

Let total distance travelled during journey be S.

In first half,

Distance travelled= S/2

Speed= 5km/h

Time taken= Distance/Speed

= (S/2) / 5

= S/10

In second half,

Distance travelled= S/2

Speed= 10km/h

Time taken= (S/2)/10

= S/20

Now for whole journey,

Distance travelled= S

Time taken= S/10 + S/20

= 3S/20

Average velocity= Total distance/ Total time

= S / (3S/20)

= 20/3

Therefore, the average velocity of the object is 20/3 km/h.
