Given:

(i) At the halfway point of a telethon, charity has raised one-quarters of total amount.

(ii) In the next 2 hours, the total amount raised doubles.

To find:

(i) The percentage of its target amount raised.

Solution:

Let the target amount be Rs 100.

Given that, in the halfway point, only one-fourth of the total charity money is raised.

So, total money raised = 1/4 * Rs 100

= Rs 25.

Again, it is given that in the next 2 hours, the total amount raised had doubled.

So, amount collected in these 2 hours = 2 * Money collected beforehand

= 2 * Rs 25

= Rs 50.

So, total money collected till now = Rs (25+50)

= Rs 75.

So, the percentage of its target amount raised

= [(Amount raised/Target money)*100]%

= [(75/100)*100]%

= 75%

Thus, 75% of the total money has been raised.
