CO2=12+32 =44

O2=16+16=32

=44+32=76u

oxygen = 1 amu is half the mass of a carbon-12 atom. It's safe to say, in imprecise calculations, that both neutrons and protons are 1 amu. The mass of an Oxygen atom is not just the mass of the nucleus but also the mass of the electrons too
